In January 1988 we finally managed to move out of Milton Keynes. The physical act of moving city meant quite a bit at the time – I am not sure it would matter so much in today’s connected world.
We split into two camps, Brockley and Peckham, and started to survey the local scene. We were instantly hit by the cost of London living, even in the more affordable South-east London.
The local Safeway threw away a lot of food at night so that became a welcome stockpile. North Peckham estates seemed to enjoy regular parties, and the abundance of local art colleges afforded many cheap nights out with student parties.
