Woodland Party Rampage

I am sure there is a long tradition of people from the area of Woburn Sands vanishing into Brickhill Woods late at night once the pubs have closed, enjoying a relaxed party like atmosphere in a secluded spot under moonlight.

It was decided we should try and do a gig in the woods as this seemed like the next logical step in Saturday night entertainment. We got hold of a generator and a PA system, set up a small stage. We let it be known that an event was shaping up. A small corner of the woods became a hive of activity one Saturday afternoon.

By dusk, people started arriving. As darkness set in, it was clear many people were there. Fire light cast an eery glow with tree shadows dancing to the wriggle of the flames like wild falling stars. People everywhere.

Claire hit the stage around mid night. We got around half way through the set when events were interrupted by a policman approaching the stage. Apparently there had been a shooting during our performance. The policeman requested information about the shooting to be passed onto the police who were stationed in a tent. He then told us we could continue. Crikey!

We raced through the rest of the set, packed our kit away and tried to learn what had happened. The rest of the night was quite surreal as hundreds of people drifted endlessly around. I remember a van arriving around 2am, the back doors opening to reveal a speaker system and dancers started to froog in an exotic style. Endless decadence.
